Introduction

This mini site is an online version of the Conservatoire d’espaces naturels Midi-Pyréenées (CEN-MP) booklet Clé de détermination. Les zygènes en Midi-Pyrénées et Languedoc-Roussillon by David Demergès, Jean-Pierre Favretto and Audrey Poujol, with the collaboration of GIRAZ-Zygaena (Organisation for information and research on  Zygaenidae).

The website contains an alphabetic list of the Burnet moths known to be present in the Midi-Pyrénées and the Languedoc-Roussillon. There is also a link to the corresponding species page on the Atlas Midi-Pyrénées website.

The booklet was devised as an identification aid for the Butterfly and Zygaena Atlas of the Midi-Pyrénées.

It consists of a brief guide to the Zygaenidae family (Burnet and  Forester moths) in the Midi-Pyrénées and Languedoc-Roussillon; an outline of the features you will need to identify members of the family; and a step-by-step guide that will help you to do so.

We have adapted the printed version of the guide so that you can download it as a PDF. Text in French. Please note that the website has been revised and is more up to date.
